Award Winners for CivicAction`s Race to Reduce

Last Thursday, at the Metro Convention Centre, Canada Square and 483 Bay Street received significant energy performance award's from CivicAction's Race to Reduce Program.

Both properties were awarded the Building Performance Award for the Lowest Energy Use based on ENERGY STAR performance rating for all four recipients with an OUTSTANDING score of 99 out of 100.  483 Bay Street received the award in the over 1,000,000 sq.ft category with a 95 ENERGY STAR score out of 100. This is the third year that 483 Bay Street has received this award after receiving it in 2013 & 2011. All four reipients in this category received an ENERGY STAR score of 95 or more, which is 38+ points above the Canadian national average for commercial office buildings.

483 Bay Street also received the Building Engagement Award for having over 80% of their tenant space registered in the Race to Reduce within their building. 483 Bay Street hosts quarterly meetings with their tenants and invites energy consultants to discuss their initiatives to reduce their energy usage.

CivicAction's Race to Reduce is one of the largest regional challenges in the world, over 600 landlords and tenants have collaborated to reduce energy usage in almost one third of Toronto region's commercial office space since its launch in May 2011.
